The Few Easy Guitar Songs
Learning to play a guitar starts out with a basic understanding of some finger placements and chords used in many songs. However, practicing a few chords can only get you so far in your progress to learning to play guitar, so at some point you’ll have to look for some easy guitar songs for beginners. There are a few songs you can choose to aid you in putting sounds together into melodies.
A Horse with No Name
Performed by America, A Horse with No Name is one of the most popular of the easy guitar songs for those just learning to play guitar because of its simplicity. Though a beautiful song, the chords used are so simple that it makes it wonderful for beginners. The different chords include Dmaj9, D6/9, Em and Em9, all of which are played using only one fret of the guitar, helping the beginner get the hang of playing more than one chord in sequence.
Feeling Alright
Another of the great easy guitar songs for beginners is Feeling Alright by Dave Mason. Also very simple for those who are just learning to get songs together on the guitar, this song uses two chords, including C7 and F7 and only two frets. This song is on the very beginner side of this skill level because it is so very simple, even simpler than A Horse with No Name.
Wild Thing
Performed by the Troggs rather than the several other artists that have done this song, Wild Thing is one of the easy guitar songs for beginner guitar players. Four chords and a “stop chord” are the only ones needed for this song, which makes it a little more complicated (though not much more) than the other songs talked about so far. The chords are A (one finger play), D (two fingers), E (also one chord) and the G chord, which uses the thumb. The “stop chord” means you mute the tune with your fingers rather than strumming.
Hurt
Johnny Cash’s Hurt is one of his later songs in life, and one of the most popular easy guitar songs for beginners that are available to learn. Most online guitar lessons make it very easy to carry out its performance, which uses five chords total. These chords include Am, C, D, F, and G, and are played in simple orders and patterns to make one of Johnny Cash’s most beautiful songs. This song is also very popular with people who are technically beginners, but that are moving closer to the intermediate level of skill.
